Aldersgate United Methodist Church is not your typical church.  They have a very rich history of how they become a loving yet diverse community.  Dora First UMC and Sayre UMC combined in 1985.  They built the Church in its current location and later in 1995 added our Family Life Center.  Aldersgate has ministered in our community by hosting the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, City League Ball and housed a Day Care.  After the 2011 Tornado's they hosted UMVIM re-build teams that provided over 250,000 dollars of in-kind labor through Walker County Long Term Recovery.  This helped restore needy famlies homes after being hit hard.  In April of 2014, we responded by hosting UMCOR Early Response Teams after the tornado hit Graysville.   The teams we hosted put in around 1200 volunteer hours for the city and some of the teams brought in heavy equipment.   We served the community by providing an office for the conference case manager that worked the Walker County Christmas storms.   We want to be in service to our community.

We continue to change and grow in the service of God and our fellow man. We are looking for those people who would partner with us in ministry as we seek to follow God.

We are certainly not the biggest church in numbers, but all churches are special. Ours is no exception.  The people here have a heart for their community and desire to serve God.   Come join us as we continue to live out this great adventure!
